Vinegar from Scratch, a Follow-Along Virtual Event (FAVE) - Sat, June 20
Learn to make vinegar from scratch at home. We'll focus on practical science-backed tips for making wine vinegar with what's leftover at the end of a bottle as well as starting your own fruit scrap vinegar for fun. This class is fun and practical!
We'll send you a list of everything you'll need ahead of time as well as a link for purchasing any of the harder-to-find items. The aim is to keep it fairly simply so you don't have to stress about finding unusual items.
Date: Sat, June 20, 2020
Time: 11am-12pm pacific
To follow along in this class you'll need to have on hand:
- 24 oz raw, unfiltered vinegar to use as a starter (red or white like this works best - raw apple cider vinegar may work in a pinch)
- 24 oz red or white wine (depending upon which type of vinegar you'd like to make)
- 32 oz filtered water (either bottled or boiled and cooled)
- 1 lb fresh fruit
- 1/3 cup sugar (any type you like)
Tools & Utensils:
- 2 large, wide jar (half-gallon sized or larger would be good)
- Butter muslin
- Rubber bands that will fit around the mouth of the jars
