Homemade beer: from brewing to bottling.

Have you always wanted to understand the process of making beer? Are you itching to start producing your own homebrew? Brewmaster Chris Opela will guide you through all the steps necessary to make beer from malt extract. You'll leave with the knowledge you need to go home and start brewing! But even if you're not planning on making your own beer, we think this class will help you understand more about the brewing process and increase your appreciation of your favorite beverage, whether imbibed at home or at your local microbrewery. And, of course, we'll have lots of tasty homebrews to sample and you'll even leave with your own bottle! No previous brewing experience necessary.

Chris Opela is the Sales Manager for Brewmaster, a wholesale supplier of beer and winemaking supplies.  He has been home brewing, making mead, fruit wines, and other delicious beverages at home for 20 years. Chris is a BJCP Certified beer judge, and enjoys teaching and talking about homebrew.

Supplies Required:  None but feel free to bring a sample of your own homebrew or a bottle of your favorite beer

Location:  This class is held at The Sheffield Village Social Hall at 247 Marlow Drive in South Oakland near the Dutton exit of 580.  It’s about 2 miles from Bart on flat ground and ample street parking is also available. A cab ride from BART is normally about $10 and we don’t make promises but if you’re friendly you can usually convince someone to drop you off after class.
